Based in the heart of Cork City, the team at Vegter Violins is passionate about helping customers find the perfect instruments or musical accessories to meet your individual needs. From beginners to Professional musicians, we stock a variety of products to suit all playing levels, with a showroom of over 125 different instruments and over 250 bows available for sale.
Vegter Violins is owned by Hugo Vegter DIP CSM, who is an instrument and bow maker and restorer, who studied the craft under the tutelage of W.D. Patterson here in Cork and has specialised in Instrument and Bow repair and restorations for over 30 years.
Working alongside Hugo is Haruaki Saito who is an instrument maker and restorer who qualified in Instrument Making and Repair in Japan, working there in the trade for 10 years before coming to Ireland in 2016, and has worked in this workshop since 2017. Niamh Vegter looks after the administration of the business so that Hugo and Haru can concentrate on the creative side of the business.
Our expertise in this industry means that we specialise in violin repairs and restorations, offering antique violin repair and restoration services to bring your much-loved violins back to life again. When undertaking any repair or restoration job we meticulously plan and record the work involved to enable the instrument or bow to be finished in the most conscientious and professional manner possible.
As an independent business, we pride ourselves on contentious and courteous customer service. When buying or upgrading an instrument we offer a trade-in service on all instruments, guaranteeing quality and promising that we would never sell anything that we wouldn’t trade back to save you money on your string instruments in the long-run.
COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS AND ADVICE
Under the current level 5 government restrictions we remain open for drop-off and collection only. We also advise that Customer follow the current COVID-19 guidelines, particularly the restrictions on travel distances.
Customers will not be permitted in the workshop during this time but we can safely retrieve and pass on instruments and bows whilst maintaining Social Distancing.
